The huge growth in data stored today, together with the new focus on data privacy of human profiles, is making managing sensitive information harder than ever.

Executives in every industry know that data is important. Without it, there can be no digital transformation to propel the organisation past competitors. There are no analytics driving new sources of revenue. But for data to fuel these initiatives, it must be readily available, of high quality, and relevant.

Good data governance ensures data has these attributes, which enable it to create value. Executives can ensure that their policies, rules, and definitions apply to all data across their entire organisation. And they can ensure that data is appropriately governed, transformed, and reliably delivered across all applications and analytics deployments in the cloud, on-premises, or both.

Comprising 6 modules, this Advanced Certificate in Data Governance Systems programme is specially designed for data protection officers, compliance managers or professionals with data protection responsibilities. Participants will be able to grasp the importance of data governance systems, frameworks and standards along with practical skills to help analyse, support and ultimately manage the ever-growing volume of data and information within their organisations.

• Module 3: Mobile Applications - Privacy by Design and Design Thinking (3 days)
• Module 4: Concepts and Principles of Records Management in Today’s Digital Environment (2 days)
• Module 5: Implementing a Compliance Management System ISO37301 (2 days)
• Module 6: Implementing the Privacy Information Management Standard ISO27701 (2 days)

To be awarded the Advanced Certificate in Data Governance Systems issued by Singapore Management University, participants must meet the following criteria:

• Complete all six (6) modules, totaling thirteen (13) full days of training within 3 years.
• Achieve a minimum of 75% attendance for each module.
• Pass the associated assessment for each module.

This course is part of the Industry Graduate Diploma in Data Governance and Management.

+ WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Data Protection Officers and professionals responsible for data governance and data protection in the workplace as well as those working in audit, compliance and risk management roles.

+ ASSESSMENTS

As part of the requirement for SkillsFuture Singapore, there will be an assessment conducted at the end of the course. The mode of assessment, which is up to the trainer’s discretion, may be an online quiz, a presentation or based on classroom exercises.

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment in order to receive a digital Certificate of Proficiency issued by Singapore Management University.

+ CERTIFICATION

Participants are required to attain a minimum of 75% attendance and pass the associated assessment for each of the 6 modules within 3 years in order to be awarded the digital Advanced Certificate in Data Governance Systems issued by Singapore Management University.

+ FEES AND FUNDING

SkillsFuture Level-Up Programme for Mid-Career Individuals

A SkillsFuture Credit (Mid-Career) top-up of $4,000 will be provided to Singaporeans aged 40 years and above to further offset out-of-pocket course fees for this programme.

# SkillsFuture Credit

Singapore Citizens aged 25 and above may use their SkillsFuture Credits to pay for the course fees. The credits may be used on top of existing course fee funding.

This is only applicable to self-sponsored participants. Application to utilise SkillsFuture Credits can be submitted when making payment for the course via the SMU Academy TMS Portal, and can only be made within 60 days of course start date.

# Enhanced Training Support Scheme

• Organisation must be registered or incorporated in Singapore
• Employment size of not more than 200 or with annual sales turnover of not more than SGD100 million
• Trainees must be hired in accordance with the Employment Act and fully sponsored by their employers for the course
• Trainees must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
• Trainers must not be a full-time national serviceman
